Aulis Capital was represented at LEAP EAST Panel. Our founding Managing Partner spoke on the “From Lab to Unicorn: Building a Biotech Success Story in Asia” panel at LEAP East.

The conversation explored what it really takes to move breakthrough science out of the lab and into companies built to scale, from navigating regulatory pathways across Asian markets to building the right teams and securing capital at each stage of growth. Asia’s biotech ecosystem is maturing quickly, with strong momentum behind founders who can pair deep scientific expertise with sharp commercial execution.

We thank Michael Rinaman and Jia Zhuang for a thoughtful discussion, and to everyone who stopped by afterward to chat. Conversations like these are exactly why events like LEAP East matter, pushing the whole ecosystem forward.

Last week, Aulis Capital CFO Grace Ng and Venture Partner Alwin Poon designed and led a Hong Kong immersion programme for 12 master’s students from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and Columbia Engineering (SEAS) — part of Aulis Capital’s ongoing commitment to bridging global talent with Asia’s innovation frontier.

The cohort was incredibly diverse — MPA, MIA, and MA Energy & Finance candidates drawn from eight countries and cultural backgrounds, spanning serving policymakers and civil servants, scientists and researchers, investment bankers, VC and PE professionals, and founders. Exactly the kind of room where a single conversation can travel.

The day began with a visit to the HKUST Business School — consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools and a cornerstone of Asia’s research and innovation ecosystem — and the Hong Kong Generative AI Research and Development Centre (HKGAI) at HKUST, one of HK’s most significant initiatives on frontier AI infrastructure.

Grace and Alwin engaged the group on where technology development in Asia is heading: the pace of AI deployment with a healthcare focus, and how Hong Kong’s unique position — a bridge between East and West — shapes capital and innovation flows across borders.

That’s the kind of exchange worth crossing an ocean for.

Our Founding Managing Partner Nisa Leung joined the “China Going Global: Next Chapter for Capital Markets” panel at the J.P. Morgan Global China Summit in Shanghai last Friday.

Nisa was joined on the panel by Bonnie Y Chan, CEO of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, with Anu Aiyengar, J.P. Morgan’s Global Head of Advisory and M&A, moderating.

Dr. Tan founded dMed Clinical Company (dMed) in 2016. Following a series of acquisitions, dMed established the global brand name Caidya in 2022, providing a full range of services to clients and patient populations across several therapeutic areas in the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Prior to founding dMed, Dr. Tan served for nearly 20 years in global management roles at Pfizer. After leading a Global Biometrics team, he was appointed Pfizer’s Vice President of Worldwide Development Operations and founded Pfizer (China) Research & Development Co., Ltd. Dr. Tan is a past chairman of the DIA Global Board of Directors.

EpiBiologics is advancing a next-generation protein degradation pipeline and platform that targets extracellular membrane and soluble proteins. The Company’s proprietary EpiTAC platform is a modular bispecific antibody system that enables targeted degradation of disease-driving extracellular proteins in a tissue-specific manner.

With this financing, EpiBiologics will advance their pipeline of novel bispecific antibodies to selectively degrade disease-driving membrane and soluble targets in oncology and immunology. EpiBiologics aims to develop first-in-class and best-in-class targeted therapies across multiple therapeutic areas, including oncology and immunology.
